The Green Party of Canada is a participant in a colonial system of governance in a colonial state. In our work as a political party, we must remain conscious both of the roles colonial governments have and continue to play in the marginalization, exploitation, and genocide of Indigenous peoples, but also of the role we must play in facilitating partnership, growth, reconciliation, decolonization, and the return of stolen lands.

The GPC is a party committed to sustainability, environmental stewardship, human rights, and consensus-building. We must ensure that spaces are made for Indigenous leadership and initiatives to thrive, as it is only with such cooperation and leadership, and the immense history and knowledge behind it, that these initiatives may be successful.
